Sunken Bar opened Memorial Day 1966 on the east end of The Strip, next to the Geneva Theatre.
The bar offered seating and standing room for up to 425 patrons.
Sunken Bar earned a spot in rock ‘n’ roll history by hosting the Jaggerz, a Pittsburgh-based band, six nights a week during the barn’s first season.
The Jaggerz’s hit “The Rapper” helped propel the band into national recognition. The following summer, the band played at The Cove.
